5 common surface treatment methods for stainless steel coils

Stainless steel coils can be surface treated in a variety of ways, each giving them unique appearance characteristics and performance enhancements. The following are several common stainless steel coil surface treatment methods and their characteristics:

1. Mirror treatment

Processing method: Through polishing technology, mechanical or chemical polishing methods are used to make the surface of the stainless steel roll as smooth as a mirror, reflecting a bright luster.

Features:

Beautiful appearance: The mirror-treated stainless steel roll has a high surface finish, which can reflect clear light and shadow, improving the overall beauty of the product.

Easy to clean: The surface is smooth and dirt is not easy to adhere to, making cleaning more convenient and faster.

Corrosion resistance: Although the mirror treatment itself does not directly enhance corrosion resistance, the smooth surface helps reduce the contact area with corrosive substances and indirectly improves corrosion resistance.

2. Drawing treatment

Treatment method: A layer of rough texture is formed on the surface of the stainless steel coil through mechanical or chemical methods, showing a brushed effect.

Features:

Unique texture: The brushed treatment gives the surface of the stainless steel roll a rustic and fashionable feel, improving the texture of the product.

Anti-Fingerprint: The rough texture helps reduce the visibility of fingerprints and scratches, making the product more durable.

Anti-skid: In situations where anti-skid is required, brushed processing can provide a good anti-skid effect.

3. Pickling treatment

Treatment method: Chemical pickling is used to remove oxide scale, rust and other undesirable substances on the surface of the stainless steel coil to make the surface clean and smooth.

Features:

Smooth surface: After pickling treatment, the surface of the stainless steel coil becomes clean and smooth, which improves the appearance quality of the product.

Good corrosion resistance: The pickling treatment not only removes surface impurities, but also enhances the corrosion resistance and scratch resistance of stainless steel.

Stable quality: Due to the meticulous and comprehensive production process, the pickled stainless steel coils have very high quality stability.

4. Remove black oxide

Treatment method: It mainly deals with the black oxide scale produced during the processing of stainless steel. Commonly used methods include sandblasting (shot) method and chemical method.

Features:

Restoring the true color: Remove the oxide scale through sandblasting or chemical methods to restore the true color of the stainless steel, making it show its original silvery white color.

Environmentally friendly and pollution-free: The modern chemical method uses pollution-free pickling passivation paste and normal temperature non-toxic cleaning fluid, which meets environmental protection requirements.

Strong applicability: For large and complex stainless steel products, natural whitening treatment has good applicability.

5. Surface coloring treatment

Treatment method: Through chemical oxidation, electrochemical oxidation, ion deposition oxide, high temperature oxidation or gas phase cracking, various colored films are formed on the surface of the stainless steel coil.

Features:

Rich colors: Stainless steel coloring can give products a variety of color options and increase the variety of products.

Wear resistance and corrosion resistance: Coloring treatment not only beautifies the appearance of the product, but also improves the wear resistance and corrosion resistance of the product.

Diverse processes: There are various coloring treatment methods, and the appropriate process can be selected according to specific needs and product characteristics.
